Stemwall Pour

Adding short pieces of rebar to attach the walls to.

The wand that the man on the right is holding vibrates
and settles any air bubbles out of the concrete.

The electricians were here today laying out the conduit
that will be inside the concrete floor.

Each one of these fresh squares of concrete is several
feet deep.  The four pads will each support a vertical steel beam.

The forms are ready!

The 4 walls of the kitchen foundation will be poured this afternoon.

The floor will be poured after the walls an roof are constructed.

Rebar

Tying rebar in preparation for next week's
concrete pour.

It will take about 8 sections of rebar similar to this one to
complete the concrete footing walls.

Inside, electricians are working on stripping the old electrical
to make room for new, smaller and more energy efficient lights.
Soon the painters will arrive to paint the ceiling black.
The rafters will remain exposed once the remodel is complete.
Acoustic tiles will however be placed between the rafters to help
reduce the volume in the room.
